Register What you will learn Course description: This Philips Clinical Education full day course for noninvasive vascular ultrasound technologists is developed to meet the climbing need to standardize performance protocols and diagnostic criteria for noninvasive evaluation of complex renal pathologies. The course includes lectures, interactive case study presentations and a hands-on scanning session. Program topics include a brief review of renal anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology of and sonographic evaluation of renal artery stenosis, chronic and end-stage renal disease, dialysis access arterio-venous fistula evaluation and renal transplantation. Preoperative and postoperative noninvasive vascular testing protocols and diagnostic criteria with case study correlations including DSA angiography, CTA and MRA will also be presented. Prerequisites: This course is intended for either practicing sonographers or physicians with prior scanning experience who want to learn advanced imaging of renal artery stenosis, dialysis access, and renal transplant. The attendee must be an experienced practicing sonographer or physician with a firm understanding of abdominal and peripheral vascular anatomy. Currency: USDCourse objectives: Upon the completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to: Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and general approach for disease management Demonstrate different imaging protocols and diagnostic criteria used for duplex sonography renal artery and renal artery stenosis, hemodialysis access AVF, renal transplants and its complications. Describe the appropriate algorithm for the preoperative workup. Understand important observations recorded while performing postoperative ultrasonography examination. Understand the most common causes of renal transplant failure including acute tubular necrosis (ATN), rejection (hyperacute, acute, and chronic), and drug toxicity and its clinical presentation as well as ultrasound finding associated such complications.
